Heritage and legacy

Catalogue of the exhibition "Heritage: 180 years of workshops" on the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the ESMOD International school. In 1841, Alexis Lavigne, master tailor and prolific inventor, opened his workshop as a school in order to pass on his know-how, thanks to his "tailor's method". In 2021, the school, now ESMOD, proudly celebrates its 180th anniversary! Over the years and under the visionary influence of six successive directors, ESMOD has been able to anticipate changes in the world of fashion in order to be part of the long term and always offer its students, both in France and internationally, courses with innovative techniques. Through two exceptional exhibitions, illustrated by its heritage collection, ESMOD offers a journey through time. Clothing, accessories, patents, journals and methods allow us to retrace the closely linked history of the school and fashion. In Roubaix, in the La Piscine museum, four bathing cubicles currently house period outfits and heritage documents, while in Pantin, on the school's premises, the exhibition is divided into six workshops corresponding to the six directions in which ESMOD has evolved.
